Rent free welding and cutting gas now available to all of Waterford and the South East
We are proud to announce that we have partnered up with gas giant SGS Gases. We now keep a full range of rent free welding and cutting gas in our Waterford store. On today’s blog I’m going to go through some frequently asked questions that we’ve got over the last few weeks about our new range of rent free gas.
How does rent free gas work?
Say goodbye to quarterly or yearly rent gas rates by choosing our rent free gas. All that we needed is a one off deposit when you buy your first bottle, that’s it. This deposit ranges from €80-€138 plus vat depending on the size of the bottle you choose. Your deposit is fully refunded when you hand us back your last bottle. No questions asked whether it’s after ten days or ten years you will get your full deposit back. This deposit is just to make sure that we can reclaim any empty bottles and maybe deter anyone from butchering an empty bottle to make a rough looking barbeque or something!
Do you accept bottles that haven’t been bought from Autofactors Waterford?
We will take any empty bottle that has SGS Gases stamped on the neck of it. This will count as your deposit and you will not need to pay any deposit. This means we will also take an empty 10, 20 or 30 Litre bottle against a deposit on any other bottles should you decide you need more or less quantity.
What Welding gas should I choose?
The two welding gases that we keep in stock are Pure Argon and CO2/Argon mix in 10 litres 20 litres and 30 litres.
- Pure Argon:
- Pure argon is used mostly for TIG Welding applications.
- A Pure Argon can also be used for Mig Welding but there can be a bit more weld splatter.
2. CO2/Argon Mix:
- Our most popular welding gas.
- CO2/Argon Mix is mostly used for MIG Welding applications.
- Can be used for welding up to 8MM.
- All standard 5/8” fitting regulators will fit the SGS bottles.
What Cutting/Heating Gas is available?
We stock bottles of Oxygen and Profuel.
What is Profuel?
- Profuel is our alternative to acetylene.
- It burns at 2950C with Oxygen.
- Suitable for heating, cutting and brazing.
- Not necessary to buy new cutting torch or nozzles but is recommended to buy the SGS lightweight nozzle.
What other gases are available?
Nitrogen and r134a refrigerant gases are also available to order over night.
