Here, we seek to explain important developments in the European battery market, whilst highlighting how our range has been improved and developed, to deal with such changes and new opportunities.
Modern vehicles place huge demands on the battery, often meaning that the battery must power the vehicle whilst the engine if off. This has accelerated the EU’s determination to hit targets and reduce the amount of CO2 emissions produced by cars. The automotive industry accounts for approximately 12% of the total CO2 emissions produced.
Faced with this new challenge, the vehicle producer introduced ‘Start/Stop’, in various formats, for Hybrid vehicles (including Micro-Hybrid). These vehicles place increased demands on the battery and those equipped with Brake Energy Regeneration require an entirely new battery solution.
It is estimated that, from 2015, 70% of vehicles manufactured in Europe will boast a Start / Stop system, meaning that they will require a replacement Start / Stop battery in years to come.
