A 1-part, black, thixotropic, alkoxy silicone oil-resistant flange sealant for applications involving large gaps.
LOCTITE? SI 5980 is a black, alkoxy silicone gasketing sealant, ideal for gasketing applications where good oil resistance and the ability to withstand high joint movement is required: typically stamped sheet metal covers (timing gear covers and oil sumps). LOCTITE SI 5980 cures when exposed to moisture in the air to form a rigid rubber gasket. Its thixotropic nature makes it easy to apply and reduces sealant migration after application. It withstands in-line, low-pressure tests immediately after the assembly of the flanges.
